MotherHome

A 4 week post birth recovery journey.

A gentle trauma informed programme for mothers in Northumberland whose birth experience left them feeling disconnected, lost or afraid of their own body.

You used to know your body and who you were in it…

  • You ran, you lifted weight, moved to feel amazing, to feel confident in your own skin - and now even a walk can feel too much.

  • You want to move but every time you do something hurst or leaks, you don’t trust your body any more

  • You have tried “pelvic floor exercises” they feel as though they actually make things worse, and so you aren’t even sure if you are doing them right!

  • Your midwives and doctors have commented of the physical scars that are now deemed healed. But inside you feel anything but.

  • Your birth left a mark that no other human sees, yet you feel it every second or everyday.

  • You aren’t sure if your birth was traumatic, you wonder daily if you are just being dramatic

  • You feel lost, alone and have no idea how to live in the new body you find yourself in

You, beautiful soul are not being dramatic. You are not broken. You are a woman whose nervous system is calling to be heard.

When your body has been through trauma, (and that means trauma for you personally not any one else’s definition of the word)

We first need to help you feel safe. This is not “more exercise”

We need to understand the story our nervous system is holding onto - gently witness is with warmth- before we ask it to do anything more.

“In order to feel strong your body must first feel safe”

Held - 4 weeks of coming home to yourself

A small group of women just like you…

No judgment. Just a desire to heal. Not to bounce back but to work through their experience.

To become the mother and woman they are here to be

  • 90 minute sessions

  • Herbal tea careful selected to nourish your body

  • Breathing practices to soothe your system

  • Somatic movement that speaks to your body and reminds it that it is safe in this life

  • Hands on body work - gentle massage and rabozo work

  • Gentle functional movement to support your daily tasks as a mother

  • Each week we peel back another layer, reconnecting with yourself in a way that feels safe, doable and deeply nourishing.

At the end of our 4 weeks together you will have a clear path. It could be returning to held, it might be more massage and body work, or the next layer of movement you wish to explore.

You may simply have gained the tools to gently hold yourself each day. To be kind to yourself in this time of constant change and transition.

Guided Journaling

A space to process the inner workings of your mind on to papre. You may write or draw. You may just write the prompt down and take it away with you. Often writing helps you to understand what it is you are thinking. It might even help you to process and release.

Somatic movement

Gentle movement, often very small and specific to help you feel safe. Somatic practice can be used at any moment you feel overwhelm to bring you back into a state of rest and digest.

Breath work for postnatal healing

Breath work

Breathing is a tool that is completely free! We can use it when ever we need. We will explore different ways of breathing. Creating space in your body to heal and manage preassure in cases of pelvic floor dysfunction. We can also switch the rhythm of breath to support relaxation and calm.

The mother behind the work.

Hi, I am so glad you are here, My name is Chloe I am a mother of two little people that transformed my world.

I entered my first postnatal period just 5 days out of a super stressful corporate job. I wanted, I needed schedules routines, I wanted to follow the wake windows.

My child didn’t.

My birth left me feeling like a failure. With pelvic floor dysfunction that it took me years to admit I had.

I didn’t have family near by and my husband was back to work after 3 days.

I didn’t know then about postnatal care,

About the holistic way we can hold women to help them land not just in a new body but in a new version of them self.

Now I do

I trained in yoga, massage, bio mechanics and then specialised in women and pre and postnatal care. I added the knowledge I had as PT in my early twenties too.

I have been supporting women in pregnancy and postpartum in the North East of England for over 5 years now. And it is the best job in the world!

Put yourself at the heart of this journey.
